About Our Edgewood Assisted Living Home
BeeHive Homes Of Edgewood Robin Markley, founder of the Green BeeHive in Edgewood, New Mexico has been working with the elderly since she began volunteering in nursing homes in 1975.
Robin has been in and out of the field of taking care of the elderly as well as employed for a BeeHive as a manager, NM. She fell in love with the small size and the love and care that the residents receive.
Mrs. Markley has cared for her father since 1988 and when he could no longer stay at her home the only place she felt safe for him to reside was in a Beehive.
After 4 years of working for Beehive Robin decided to build and run her own Beehive home. With her Husband, Pat Markley, and her partner, Gerald Hamilton, the dream has come true. She now can provide quality care for the elderly.
When asked about her job she says, “It’s not work when you do something you love. What a better gift that I can give then a safe loving place for our aging residents."
Gerald Hamilton has been working with the elderly over 30 years since starting as a dietary aide in a nursing home while still in high school. Following a 20-year career as a nursing home administrator, he opened his first Bee Hive home in 2006 in Albuquerque, adding a second home 2 years later.
He loves working with the elderly in the intimate setting that Bee Hive homes provide, and enjoys being involved in all aspects of the operation. Don't be surprised to see Gerald cooking breakfast, singing with the residents, and fixing a broken toilet all in the same day BeeHive Homes of Edgewood is a green facility: Green assisted living not only helps take care of the needs of the elderly but also provides them with a better living environment that has been enriched with green options.
