Nathan Manning, owner and operator of BeeHive Homes of New Mexico recently had a chance to speak with McKnight Business Daily about a new business approach being implemented at BeeHive Homes New Mexico. This new business model is focused on the employee experience first. Nate told McKnight, "When we were going through this period of time where we were really short-staffed, we took a hard look at what employees’ experience was like and had to ask ourselves, ‘Is that something we would want to come back to?” This new focus is aimed at trying to create a positive experience for every employee beginning with the first day of employment. While BeeHive Homes as always made staff and staff experience a priority, BeeHive Homes of New Mexico recognized that there is room for improvement. Some of these enhancements include personalized onboarding, daily employee interaction and a more user-friendly platform allowing staff to be more connected and make scheduling easier on everyone. “On day one, instead of getting cleaning duty and talking about policies, we tell the employee, ‘Your job today is to go around to every single resident and get to know them. Share with them who you are, and learn more about them,’ ” Manning said. “That’s it, day one. We want them to create a relationship with all 15 people, because on their next day, they have something to come back for.” This approach allows staff to more quickly become a part of the "real reason" staff are attracted to working in assisted living, to build relationships and care for each of the residents. BeeHive Homes is a national franchise caring for residents in 22 states in over 200 BeeHive Home locations. Mike Shosted, Director of Marketing for BeeHive Homes Corporate says, "One huge benefit of the franchise is our ability to work with so many BeeHive Homes franchise owners on what is best for our all BeeHive residents and staff across the country. We can learn from what BeeHive Homes New Mexico is doing and incorporate these changes throughout the BeeHive family of homes. It is truly one of those things that sets BeeHive Homes apart." “The workforce has changed. It’s totally different than it was a year ago, even. We’ve had to be more accommodating and had to give our employees more options,” Manning said. Read the entire article published by McKnight Senior Living.
