Frequently Asked Questions

There's no flat monthly rate — your rate is based on the level of care your loved one needs. Before move-in, we complete an initial evaluation of each resident's health, mobility, personal care, and memory needs, and the monthly rate reflects that level of support. Whether your loved one needs memory care, day-to-day elderly care, or a short respite stay, we'll walk you through exactly what's included — with no hidden costs or fees. Call (608) 437-4483 to set up an evaluation and get a clear quote.

In most cases, yes. Our goal is to let residents remain in the familiar comfort of home for as long as we can safely meet their needs, and we coordinate with outside hospice and home-health providers to support care in place when that time comes. There are exceptions — for example, if a resident develops safety needs we can't meet or requires 24-hour skilled nursing. When a higher level of care becomes necessary, we work closely with families and physicians to make the next step as smooth and compassionate as possible.

We do not have a nurse on staff. Instead, our caregivers provide around-the-clock personal care, and any nursing or clinical needs are met through third-party providers — visiting nurses, home health, or hospice — who come to the home. This keeps BeeHive feeling like a true home rather than a clinical facility, while still giving residents access to skilled care, and we coordinate closely with each resident's physician and outside providers.

Family and friends are always welcome, and visiting hours flex around each family's schedule and the resident's needs — we just ask that visits aren't too early or too late. Because steady routines matter, especially for residents living with memory loss, we appreciate visitors planning around rest and meal times when they can. Call ahead any time and we'll help find a good window.

Couples who wish to remain together can sometimes be accommodated, depending on current availability and each person's care needs. We know how much it means for spouses or partners to stay side by side, so if that matters to your family, call us at (608) 437-4483 and we'll let you know what's open right now.

BeeHive Homes of Mount Horeb is private pay at this time, meaning families pay directly for room and care rather than through Medicaid or state funding. We do work with long-term care insurance, which can help offset the cost — and while the home itself is private pay, Medicare or Medicaid may still help cover certain third-party medical services, like home health or hospice, provided in the home. Veterans may also qualify for additional help (see below). Call us and we'll talk through the options that fit your situation.

Yes. The VA's Aid and Attendance benefit may help cover part of the cost of care for eligible wartime veterans and their surviving spouses who need help with daily living. Eligibility and benefit amounts vary, so it's worth looking into even if you're not sure you qualify. Call (608) 437-4483 and we'll point you toward more information and resources to get started.

Just give us a call! Joining our wait list is free, and you can get on it at any time. Because our home is small and the list fluctuates, we call families from the top of the list whenever a room opens up, until someone accepts it. Call us at (608) 437-4483 to add your name or ask about current availability.
